Altus City Council, AMA to meet Tuesday, Jan. 3

Regular meetings of the Altus City Council and Altus Municipal Authority will be held Tuesday, Jan. 3 starting at 6 PM in Council Chambers at City Hall, 509 S. Main. Council agenda items include budget amendments to allocate funds for the final payment of the library restroom renovation, as well as to refurbish the SE T-hangars at the airport. Council will also consider adopting an ordinance prohibiting parking on the street for more than 24 hours, and adopting a resolution to make application for the Recreational Trails Grant, Phase II, from the Oklahoma Department of Tourism. An interlocal agreement with the Jackson County Board of Commissioners for road improvements will be considered, as well as agreements with the Altus Redevelopment Trust Authority regarding ownership and management of the Altus Train Depot, and with Lance Windel Development regarding Higher Ground Homes. Approving a bid for the repair of Hangar 26 and Hangar 30 at the Altus/Quartz Mountain Regional Airport is also on the agenda, as is possibly rejecting bids and re-advertising for bids to construct walking trails throughout the city of Altus. An executive session to discuss the purchase of real property will be held. The Altus Municipal Authority meeting will be held immediately following the Council meeting. The AMA will consider a budget amendment to appropriate funds to purchase a sideloader for the Sanitation Department, approve a purchase order to remmove underground storage tanks at 721 S. Main Street to facilitate water line improvements, and consider approving an application for permit to construct from ODEQ to reinstate use of chlorine contract chamber at the Altus Southeast Wastewater Treatment Plant, and approve a temporary easement to the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality for the Altus Municipal Landfill. City Manager’s and Trust Manager’s reports and comments and comments from the the City Council members will be heard before adjourning.
