Week 5 high school volleyball scores

Childress

The Lady Cats took down Burkburnett in a 5 set thriller on Tuesday, September 7, with two sets going over the regulation score (23-25, 27-25, 19-15, 25-21, 17-15). Childress played tough defense on the net and in the backcourt as Nayeli Miller led the team with 6 blocks and Adah Henderson added 5 of her own. Kenzlee Carroll picked up 26 digs and Aspen Lomax had 12. One the attack side, Adah Henderon put up big numbers again with 24 kills and 3 aces. Corbin Daniel also served 3 aces and brought in 16 kills. Lily Stephens and Jena Preston led the offensive momentum with 27 and 19 assists respectively. 

The Lady Cats were back in action on Saturday, September 11 at home against Wildorado. In honor of 9/11, the game served as an American Tribute and the Childress Police Department and Fire Department were recognized. Childress went on to win the game in 4 sets (25-21, 25-23, 22-25, 25-5). The team will be on the road at the start of this week as they play at Pampa on Tuesday, September 14 starting at 5:00 p.m.

Quanah

The Lady Indians started district play on September 7 at home against Northside. They met a tough opponent and fell to the Lady Indians in 4 sets (22-25, 18-25, 25-21, 18-25). But their losing streak was short lived as they traveled to Paducah on September 10 and swept the match in 3 sets (25-13, 25-8, 25-16). The Lady Indians hope to keep up their momentum as they play Crowell at home on Tuesday, September 14 at 4:00 p.m.

Vernon

The Lady Lions took on Wichita Falls High School at home on September 7. The JV Maroon (25-13, 26-24) and JV White (25-16, 20-25, 15-12) teams each picked up a win. The varsity team started strong by winning the first set, but eventually fell short by dropping the next 3 (25-23, 14-25, 23-25, 24-26). After a bye on Saturday, Vernon heads to Petrolia on Tuesday, September 14 at 4:30 p.m. to continue play.

Memphis

The Lady Cyclones play their next game on Tuesday, September 14 at Miami at 4:00 p.m.

Paducah

The Lady Dragons opened district with a 3 set road win at Crowell on September 7 (25-22, 25-12, 25-14). A few days later, they had their district home opener against a tough Quanah team and fell to the Lady Indians in 3 sets (13-25, 8-25, 16-25). Paducah is back on the road as they face Benjamin on Tuesday, September 14 at 5:00 p.m.

Chillicothe

The Lady Eagles opened district play on their home court September 7 against Knox City. After a hard fought match, the Lady Eagles fell in 5 sets (25-20, 16-25, 17-25, 25-16, 11-15). They went on to face Munday on September 11 and after trailing 2 sets to none, they pushed a fifth set before falling short in the end (14-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22, 10-15). Chillicothe will look to bounce back at home on Tuesday, September 14 against Northside at 4:00 p.m.

Crowell

The Lady Cats hosted their district home opener on September 7 against Paducah, where they fell in 3 sets (22-25, 12-25, 14-25). They traveled to Knox City on September 11 and again they were swept in 3 sets (10-25, 20-25, 16-25). Crowell continues district play on the road Tuesday, September 14 at Quanah at 6:00 p.m.

Vernon Northside

The Lady Indians opened district play with a big road win at Quanah on September 7 (25-22, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18). Their hot streak continued as they played Benjamin at home on September 10, winning in 4 sets (25-19, 20-25, 25-19, 25-12). Looking to stay undefeated, Northside will travel to Chillicothe on Tuesday, September 14 at 4:00 p.m.

Altus

The Lady Bulldogs picked up big wins on September 7 vs Snyder, with all three teams adding to the win column. Both the JV and freshman teams took down Snyder in 2 sets and the varsity team was able to close out the game in an exciting fourth set (25-17, 25-20, 21-25, 25-23).

Two days later, the teams played Tipton on September 9 and again all three teams came home with wins. The freshman (25-16, 25-22) and JV (25-8, 25-11) teams both swept their matches, while the varsity team went on to win after 5 close sets (22-25, 25-18, 26-24, 19-25, 15-13).

The Lady Bulldogs varsity team ended the week at the Chickasha Lady Chicks Volleyball Tournament on September 11. They faced tough competition and dropped their pool play matches against Lawton Ike (19-25, 22-25), Southeast (8-25, 9-25), and Tecumseh (13-25, 17-25), before being knocked out in the first round by host team Chickasha in straight sets (14-25, 19-25).
