Region II-AA Tennis Tournament Results:

Abel Silvas & Ahlai DonJuan – Boys Doubles. Abel and Ahlai will advance to the State Tennis Tournament after winning a close, split set match in a playback!! They regrouped after a split set loss in the final to claim their spot as one of the final eight doubles teams in the State. The State Tournament is April 26-27 in San Antonio.

Ella Riley & Braulio Vizcaino – Mixed Double. Ella and Braulio narrowly missed a trip to State in a close, split set playback match. They fought back to 4-4 in the third set after being down 0-4 and showed great heart.

Skyler O’Neal & Caydee Joe Terrell – Girls Doubles. Skyler and Caydee lost a split set semifinal match to the eventual runners up. They easily won their third place match with hopes of a playback and chance to advance to state, but unfortunately didn’t get that opportunity.

Debonne Haynes – Girls Singles. Despite being the number two seed, Debonne’s draw paired her against the eventual runner up in the second round. Though she fought hard, she lost in a split set match with a lot of extended rallies.

Dwight DonJuan – Boys Singles. In the toughest draw of the tournament, Dwight was seeded fourth and met up with the eventual champion in the semifinals. He was fourth after a very tight match that went to two tiebreakers.

Anish Bhakta and Allie Walther – alternates. Anish and Allie helped players warm up, updated coaches with match scores, and kept our cooler full and close by courts.
