Altus (OK) Police were called to the 100 block of N. Blain, Thursday afternoon at around 4:20 PM, after a man found a suspicious device while taking trash to the dumpster.

   Police examined the device and contacted The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Squad for assistance.

    Police evacuated the immediate area and the location was closed for several hours.

   After arriving, OHP Bomb Technicians determined the suspicious device to be an intact Improvised Explosive Device.

    It was removed from the scene by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. No suspect(s) have been identified and police continue to investigate. Altus Police, Emergency EMS, the Altus Fire Department and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol were on scene.
