High speed chase in Altus (OK) ends in Vernon, Texas

Altus (OK) Police were led on a high speed chase late Wednesday night that started at around 11:30 PM.

   The pursuit began when a patrol officer observed two vehicles racing west bound in the 1400 block of E. Broadway.

    The driver of a silver Ford Mustang led police on a chase thru a residential area before returning to Broadway and began traveling east bound.

   Police pursued the vehicle thru Kiowa and Tillman Counties at speeds over 100 mph.

   The suspect crossed over into Wilbarger County, Texas and eventually into Vernon, Texas where the suspect wrecked after losing control of the vehicle.

   The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody and identified as Kenneth Tyner, 20. Police discovered Tyner was a wanted fugitive with multiple felony charges in Oklahoma County.

   Tyner is being held at the Wilbarger County Jail and faces additional felony charges related to the high speed vehicle pursuit.
