Grief Share provides help and encouragement for people who are grieving

MARTHA, OK – Of all the difficult things life throws at people, the death of a loved one is one of the hardest. Whether it’s a spouse, child, sibling, parent, or friend, learning to carry on without them can feel like too much to ask. Early during the COVID-19 pandemic, the leadership of Martha Road Baptist Church began to hear about a grief support system called Grief Share. The Grief Share program is a biblically based and is offered exclusively through churches. However, the program is non-denominational and open to people of all faiths or no faith.

Grief Share is a 13-week program designed specifically for people who have lost a loved one through death. It consists of instructional videos, a workbook with readings and exercises, and group sessions. Grief Share is facilitated and led by people who understand because they have also grieved the death of a loved one. The $20 workbook is the only expense and participants are encouraged to participate as much as they would like at no additional cost.

The Grief Share program at Martha Road Baptist Church will be led by Chad and Jennifer Lee. Jennifer lost her mother to COVID-19 and her father to cancer this past year. While dealing with the tragic loss of Jennifer’s parents, Chad lost two cousins in a tragic auto accident in Mississippi. Their ability to trust in their faith has encouraged so many people.

The Martha Road Baptist Church Grief Share program will meet on Wednesday evenings at 6 PM in Room 117 at Martha Road Baptist Church. To register text the word “griefshare” to 580-482-3377 or call 580-482-3377 Ext. 104. Martha Road Baptist Church is located four miles north of the Altus Walmart.
