At Tuesday nights regular meeting of the Altus City Council the Board agreed to an Interlocal Agreement between the Jackson County Finance Authority and the City of Altus regarding improvements to the Jackson County Expo Center.
These improvements will enable the Jackson County Expo Center to continue and increase hosting large scale community events which benefits commerce and economic development for the City through increased sales tax and lodging revenue.
The Authority shall administer and provide oversite for the improvements to include an asphalt apron around the Center and a building on the property of the Center to store equipment.
The City will provide payment for the costs of the improvements in an amount not to exceed $225,000, and will shall bid the construction of the projects.
All items on the City Council and AMA agendas were approved. These included adopting a resolution authorizing application to South Western Oklahoma Development Authority for a Community Expansion of Nutrition Assistance grant in the amount of $1,320.83; an Interlocal Agreement with Jackson County, the City of Altus, and the Jackson County EMS regarding service; and a resolution accepting the FAA grant offer for the Airport Improvement Program Project No. 3-40-0002-021-2022 for the Altus/Quartz Mountain Regional Airport to upgrade AWOS III P/T and to authorize the Mayor to execute the grant agreement upon receipt from the FFA and approve awarding the construction contract to DBT Transportation Services, the lowest bidder, in the amount of $113,426.
Before adjourning, an executive session was held to discuss negotiations with FOP Lodge 120.
