Victims in Wednesday Altus accident pinned in vehicle

Altus Police investigated a traffic accident with injury that happened Wednesday morning, Nov. 16, at around 11:30 AM at the intersection of Main and Cypress. Two people were injured and transported to Jackson County Memorial Hospital by EMS personnel.

One of the injured was later flown to an OKC hospital. Both occupants in a 2011 Ford Crown Vic were pinned in the wreckage for a short time before they were extricated by Altus firefighters. Their condition is not currently known.

The driver of a 2019 Dodge pickup was not injured. The report states that the driver of the pickup was south bound on Main Street approaching Cypress. The driver of the 2011 Ford Crown Vic was East Bound on Cypress, approaching Main.

Witnesses told police the driver of the 2011 Ford Crown Vic disobeyed a red traffic light and was struck by the south bound Dodge pickup. Seat belts were in use by the occupants in both vehicles.
