The most recent testing for Manganese concentrations at the Altus Water Treatment Plant indicate that levels are coming down.
Raw water arriving from Tom Steed Reservoir are showing manganese concentration at 0.138 mg/L. Treated water leaving the treatment facility is at 0.094 mg/L. These are relatively normal levels with clear water leaving the treatment plant.
Many will likely see discolored water for a day or two more as new water makes it way out into the system. This residual discolored water is safe for drinking, bathing, cooking and all other normal uses.
Altus Water Treatment operators and Mountain Park Conservancy District technicians have begun gathering and testing daily samples directly at Tom Steed Reservoir. Today’s local sample at Tom Steed indicated normal conditions. (no elevated manganese levels).
