Altus water status update

The City of Altus has announded that manganese concentration in the city’s treated water has been reduced to normal levels since their last update, with readings of .030 mg/L and .060 mg/L for treated water.

Altus water is safe for drinking, bathing, cooking and all normal uses.

Below is a graph of Manganese content test results for Altus Water since July of 2021. The graph clearly shows normal levels in the range of .025-.060 mg/L consistently up to our first high indication on 8/15/22, which is a result of the “turning” of Tom Steed Reservoir due to recent climate conditions and lake levels.

Water Treatment Operators expect levels to remain within specifications and will continue enhanced monitoring.

It is always the intent of Altus City Management and the Altus Water Department to be transparent.
