The Altus (OK) High School Bulldogs played the Cache (OK) Bulldogs at home Friday night, Sept. 2. Both “Battle of the Bulldogs” teams went into the second week of the season 0-1. The Cache Bulldogs finally broke their 9-game losing streak with a 44-10 win over Altus.

Cache took an early lead over Altus in the first quarter of the game starting with 2 points with a safety off a bad snap, then Cache ran a 31 yard touchdown and got the extra point to take the score to 0-9 .

Altus made their first 1st down at the 40 yard after a time out. The next play to the left side gained a couple of yards for 3rd and 7, and pitch back was stopped. Altus’ Alex Chavez then punted to the 23 yard line. The next play by Cache only gained 1 yard for 3rd and 3. Cache then gained 13 yards with next play pushing to the 36 yard line.

After a fun up the middle, Trey Jones takes the ball to te 22 yard line, sustaining the drive, for another Cache touch down.

1st and goal for Cache in the first play of the second quarter. Cache got inside the 5 with hands off up the middle for 2nd and goal. the next play was a four yard touch down with 11 plays taking the score to 0-15. There was kick for a successful extra point taking the score to 0-16 with 11:08 left in the quarter.

With just 6 minutes left in the quarter, Cache made another touch down with a push up the middle. The extra point was made, and the score was 0-23. After Altus took a time out, A few plays later, there was a turnover with Altus kicking a field goal for their first 3 points of the game.

Cache had the ball for the start of the second half of the game, and they quickly made a touch down after a 31 yard run. The extra point was earned taking the score to Cache 30 and Altus 3.

Altus ran the ball but was stopped after a few yards. A punt was made by Altus tot he 48 yard line with 4:55 left in the quarter. Cache then throws for a touch down and gets the extra point for a 37-3 lead, then shortly after gets a 26 yard touch down taking the score to 3-44 at the end of the quarter.

A drive by Altus started the 4th quarter of the game with Keythen Kellison running all the way tot he 3 yard line, then a touch down by Altus with the extra point making the score 10-44. After a few more games, the game ended with the 1-44 score.

The Altus Bulldogs takes on the Lawton Ike Eagles on Thursday in Lawton.
