Childress falls to Canadian 62-28

The Childress Bobcats varsity football team lost Friday, Oct. 7’s home conference game against the Canadian Wildcats by a score of 62-28.

With 11:00 to go in the 1st quarter, Canadian kicked off to Childress. Childress had the ball on their own 28-yard line. Childress then punted to Canadian, and they had the ball on their own 43-yard line. With 5:00 left in the quarter, Canadian made a 31-yard field goal, with the first points on the board of Canadian 3, Childress 0.

Canadian then kicked off to Childress, and Childress had the ball on their own 37-yard line. Childress recovered a fumble by Canadian and then had the ball on Canadian’s 43-yard line. With 3:00 to go in the 1st quarter, Childress recovered a fumble by Canadian and had the ball on Canadian’s 43-yard line. Childress had turned possession over on downs. Canadian had the ball on their own 40-yard line. Canadian’s #4 Camren Cavalier then made a 13-yard rushing touchdown taking the score to Canadian 9, Childress 0. Canadian made the extra point for a score of 10-0 at the end of the quarter.

With 11:00 to go in the 2nd quarter, Childress had turned possession over on downs. Canadian had the ball on their own 50-yard line. Canadian’s Cavalier then made a 1-yard rushing touchdown, and with the extra point, the score was now 17-0.

With 9:00 left in the 2nd quarter, Canadian kicked off to Childress. Childress had the ball on their own 25-yard line. Childress then completed a 25-yard pass, and with the extra point, the score was now Canadian 17, Childress 7.

Childress completed a 50-yard pass touchdown with 7:00 minutes left in the quarter taking the score to Canadian 17, Childress 13. The extra point was good, and score was now 17-14.

In the 3rd quarter, Canadian’s Cavalier completed a 55-yard pass to #11 Preston Miller for a touchdown. With the extra point, the score was now Canadian 27, Childress 21.

With 8:00 to go in the 3rd quarter, Childress took the lead. #11 Jacob Mora made a 3-yard rushing touchdown, and with extra point, Childress was now leading 28-27.

Canadian’s Cavalier was back at it again, and made a 1-yard rushing touchdown, taking Canadian back to the top with a score of Canadian 34, Childress 28 after making the extra point. With just 1:00 left in the quarter, Cavalier made another rushing touchdown, and with the extra point, the score was now Canadian 41, Childress 28.

The 4th quarter saw Canadian score again with Cavalier completing a 17-yard pass to Miller for a touchdown. Canadian made the extra point and the score was now Canadian 48, Childress 28. The streak continued with Canadian’s #44 Wyatt Davis making a 12-yard return. The extra point was made, and the score now sat at Canadian 55, Childress 28.

With 8:00 left in the game, Canadian’s #2 Trace Mitchell intercepted a Childress pass and had the ball on Childress’ 48-yard line. Canadian’s #2 Trace Mitchell made a 1-yard touchdown, and the extra point was made. The score was now Canadian 62, Childress 28, and by the end of the quarter, the score remained the same.

The Childress Bobcats take on Tulia Hornets next Friday at home in a conference game with kickoff at 7 PM.
