The Childress Bobcats basketball team played in San Antonio for their first State tournament since 2015 Thursday, March 9. They defeated Lytle 69-Thursday and advanced to the state championship game on Saturday, however, the Childress varsity basketball team lost their neutral playoff game against Hitchcock by a score of 68-45.
Before 2015, Childress hadn’t made it to state since 1944. Just making it this far is an outstanding accomplishment in itself, a feeling the coaching staff and players take pride in as they prepared for their journey to a potential championship contest.
Overall, the Bobcats are 27-7, and in District play 9-1. Childress won their neutral playoff game against Brock and won 56-55 on March 4, and before that, won their home playoff game against City View (Wichita Falls, TX) by a score of 62-49.
