CHILDRESS – Chris Reed, P.E., has been named the Childress District Director of Operations for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). 

Reed, a graduate of Childress High School, began his TxDOT career as a summer employee with the Childress District. After graduating from Texas Tech University in 1997, he accepted a position with the City of Lubbock where he worked for the Traffic Engineering Department. 

In 1999, Reed returned home where he worked as an Engineering Assistant for both the District Construction and Childress Area Office. He was appointed Childress Area Engineer in 2004, overseeing the operations of six counties including construction projects totaling over $250 million during his tenure. In 2015, he accepted the position of Childress District Director of Construction, a position he currently holds. 

Reed and his wife, Lauren, are the parents of Olivia, Jonah, Maddox, Everleigh and Wrenleigh.
