Billy Rank Cogdell will be sworn in as Briscoe County judge on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023 at the courthouse in Silverton. Cogdell won the Republican nomination in last Spring’s primary and was declared to be elected to the position Nov. 8 after having no opponent on the general election ballot. He succeeds Wayne Nance who is retiring after 20 years of service.
Cogdell said his number one goal will be to serve as a good steward of county taxpayers money. Cogdell will also be putting an emphasis on maintaining roadways, making sure the county has good equipment, and will aid law enforcement officers in keeping Briscoe County’s crime rate low.
