Critical fire weather conditions possible across western Oklahoma, north Texas this weekend

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, the ingredients will all be in place this weekend for potential fires. Elevated to Near Critical fire weather conditions are possible across the area, mainly in western Oklahoma and adjacent western north Texas. Make sure you are doing your part to prevent fires from starting!

Sunday afternoon will likely be the most active period, as the relative humidity drops well below 30%, winds will be over 20 mph sustained…with gusts over 50 mph across northwest Oklahoma. Add in warm temperatures and dry grass / fuels…any fire that starts this weekend (especially Sunday) could grow quickly. Be careful and stay safe.
