A Texas Department of State Health Services accredited food handlers program is being offered in Childress on Monday, January 31 from 2:00-4:30 p.m. The exact location of the class has not been determined yet and the fee is $20 per person. Pre-registration is required and can be done by contacting the AgriLife Extension Office at 940-937-2351 or by stopping by the office at the Childress County Courthouse, 100 Ave E NW.
This class is recommended for food service employees and others who are involved in serving food to the public. The class is a basic overview of food safety practices that are necessary to ensure that safe food is served at all local establishments.
Some of the practices that will be discussed are:
- Good personal hygiene
- Cross-contamination prevention
- Time and temperature controls
Attendees who successfully complete the class and achieve a passing score on the post-class test will receive their Food Handlers Card.
