New sidewalk construction in Altus will run from the intersection of Navajoe to Broadway on the west side to the railroad tracks thanks to a grant contract that was accepted by the Altus City Council at Tuesday night’s meeting. The grant comes from the CDBG small cities (Community Development Block Grant) which provides matching funds for projects that will serve low and moderate income areas.

The City was notified the CDBG Grant was awarded on the amount of $195,715 with matching funding from the City of Altus of $195,715.

Although approved, construction will not begin for about a year.
