The Altus Bulldogs fought a hard game Friday night, Sept. 30, but fell to the Lawton MacArthur Highlanders 53-0.
The Altus Bulldogs’ opening kick-off against Lawton Mac at Cameron Stadium went out of bounds. There was an illegal block called on Lawton which stopped them in a touchdown run, but they kept pushing, and just 2 minutes into the game, they made the goal, went for two, making the score 8-0.
The Bulldogs were looking to make something on offense, but with 8:01 left in the 1st quarter, the Highlanders took possession of the ball at the 48-yard line, and tried to make a touchdown run, but there was a flag on the play. At 6:56 left in the quarter, the Highlanders made their second touchdown, with the extra point, for a score of 15-0.
The Highlanders scored again, went for 2, and ended the quarter 23-0, scoring on all three of their drives.
With just :31 left in the quarter, the Highlanders scored again, and with the kick good, the score was now 30-0.
The 2nd quarter saw the Highlanders make two more touchdowns for a score of 44-0 at half time.
The Altus Bulldogs were never able to get points on Lawton, and with a touchdown in the 3rd quarter, and another in the 4th, the game ended 54-0.
Next week is Homecoming for the Altus Bulldogs. They will take on Cache at The Rock in Altus.
