Altus Balloon and Kite Festival to be held this weekend

The Altus Balloon and Kite Festival will be held this weekend, Nov. 11 and Nov. 12, at the airport in Altus. Gates will open at 6 AM on Friday with a Balloon Ascention at sunrise (weather permitting). At 8 AM tethered balloon rides and airplane rides will begin. The vendor fair starts at 11 AM and the giant kites and Kids Zone will be open at that time. Off The Wall Dance Studio students will perform at 2 PM and the Cirque Dance Studio students will perform at 4 PM. Dani Carson will perform at 4:30 PM, the cornhole tournament registration will be from 5 to 6 PM with the tournament starting at 6:15 PM, followed by the Sunset Balloon Glow. Gates will close at 9 PM.

On Saturday, gates open at 6 AM with a Balloon Ascention at sunrise, and a pancake breakfast by Southwest Technology Center starting at 6 AM. Tethered Balloon, Helicopter and Airplane rides start at 8 AM, The vendor fair, food trucks, giant kites and Kids Zone also begin at 8 AM. Whitakers Extreme Gymnastics students will perform at 1 PM, and Greg Strawn will perform at 4 PM. A Balloon Glow will be held at sunset, and gates will close at 9 PM.
