MANGUM (OK) – A Mangum man is facing four counts of rape, as well as child pornography charges, after an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit investigation.
In late 2020, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) forwarded a cyber tip from a social media platform to the OSBI. The social media platform identified two uploaded files, tied to an IP address from Mangum, as child pornography. The cyber tip was assigned to the ICAC Unit and an investigation was opened that included multiple law enforcement agencies.
On July 29, 2021, agents from the OSBI, assisted by officers from the District 3 Task Force, Altus Police Department, Greer County Sheriff’s Office and Mangum Police Department, served a search warrant in the 500 block of Indiana Street in Mangum. As a result of that search warrant, James Albert Pierro III was arrested for Lewd or Indecent Acts to Child Under 16 and Rape by Instrumentation. He was booked into the Greer County Jail.
The investigation continued and on Oct. 12, 2021, Pierro, who was still in custody at the Greer County Jail on the original charges, was arrested on additional charges. In total, Pierro is facing nine felony counts to include: four counts of Rape, Rape by Instrumentation, Lewd or Indecent Acts to a Child Under 16, Participation in Child Pornography, Possession of Child Pornography, and Violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act. Pierro remains in the Greer County Jail on a $750,000 bond. If you suspect a child is being sexually exploited, contact the National Center
