NBC’s annual Mitten Tree drive seeks items to benefit children

ALTUS – NBC Oklahoma in Altus is again seeking new mittens, scarves, hats and blankets as part of its annual drive to benefit children at the Altus Air Force Base Child Development Center as well as local area youth.

The Mitten Tree started more than 30 years ago when the bank hosted a party for Altus Air Force Base personnel and its leadership and guests brought mittens, scarves and blankets to decorate the tree. Although COVID has altered party plans for the last couple of years, NBC is expanding the drive this year to include and benefit the entire community. This year, the bank is adding NBC’s downtown location as an additional drop-off point, inviting anyone to drop off new winter items to donate.

These holiday trees are located in the bank lobbies at two NBC locations in Altus – at the Altus Air Force Base, 1st and E, Building 24,  and at the bank’s downtown location, 123 W Commerce. Please drop off items between Nov. 19 and 30 for this drive.

All items will be donated to the CDC and local community youth groups.
