In an effort to keep the public informed of the situation currently at Fair Park lake, and to ensure
community safety in the area, the City wanted to advise you:
The City of Childress has been in contact with two biologists with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
regarding the state of Fair Park lake and its aquatic inhabitants. Effective 7:00 A.M. this morning (July 14 th )
we began implementing the suggestions from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
The plan of action for today is to collect water samples and run two tests.
-Oxygen test (results same-day)
-Toxicity test (results within a few business days)
Furthermore, we are and will continue to pump water out of the lake, directly back into the lake to
generate oxygen.
The City is actively working to acquire and install an aerator to run constantly, ensuring appropriate oxygen
levels.
As a matter of safety and health, please avoid contact with the fish (alive or dead) currently at Fair Park
lake.
We will post updates as we manage this matter.
