Public meeting for proposed FM 268 widening scheduled for January 24

Citizens invited to hear proposed project details and provide input

CHILDRESS – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is hosting a public meeting for a proposed project that would widen FM 268 from the intersection of US 287 in Childress to the intersection of US 287 in Hardeman County. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 24, in the foyer of Fair Park Auditorium, 1000 Commerce Street, Childress, Texas. The meeting, including a formal presentation, will begin at 6 p.m.

The purpose of the public meeting is to present proposed project information and receive public comments. Maps showing the proposed project’s details and options will be displayed and TxDOT staff will be on-hand to answer questions. This information will also be available Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the TxDOT Childress District Office, located at 7599 US 287 in Childress. 

Verbal and written comments are requested and will be received at the public meeting. Written comments may be submitted for a period of 15 calendar days (until February 9, 2022) following the meeting by mail to the Childress District Transportation Planning and Development Office at 7599 US 287, Childress, Texas 79201-9705 or by email to chuck.steed@txdot.gov

The public meeting will be conducted in English. Persons interested in attending who have special accommodations or communication needs or need an interpreter, are encouraged to contact the TxDOT Childress District Office at 940.937.7250. Requests should be made at least five days prior to the public meeting.
