Altus, OK. – Friends of WOSC Performing Arts is proud to bring The Nutcracker ballet to Western Oklahoma State College’s campus this holiday season. There will be two performances, along with a meet and greet reception open to the community.
Leah Wall of Off the Wall Dance Productions will choreograph the show. “I am so proud of my cast. While this is my seventh Nutcracker performance, only a few cast members have experience with the ballet. Only two have been in one of my previous shows. Two of my former “Claras” are returning. Alyssa Pickering, Clara 2010, is dancing the role of Sugar Plum Fairy. Dr. Hannah Henry, Clara 2006, is our Drosselmeyer. Their eagerness to return proves just how precious this holiday tradition is,” said Leah Wall.
Opening night will take place on Friday, December 10 at 7 P.M, with the second performance on Sunday, December 12 at 2 P.M. at the WOSC Campus, in Altus, inside the Herschal H Crow Fine Arts Center. Parking is available on the north side of the building; enter through the NW doors to the auditorium.
The cast will host a meet and greet reception on Saturday, December 11 from 11 A.M. – 1 P.M. located in the Band Hall. Guests will enjoy refreshments and holiday photo opportunities with the characters. This will be the first time the Nutcracker has been back in Altus for many years. Leah Wall stated, “We were scheduled to bring Nutcracker back for 2020. My dancers were heartbroken when we had to cancel. What a blessing it is to finally get this beautiful Christmas tradition back on stage and to welcome dancers from outside my own to the cast.”
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door during each performance, at the business office on Western’s campus, or online at wosc.edu/artfriends.
