Week 10 high school volleyball scores

Childress

The Lady Cats picked up a big 3 set win on the road against Tulia on October 12 (25-17, 25-12, 25-23). Adah Henderson led the team in kills (18) and blocks (5), while Lily Stephens picked up 2 more blocks and led the team with 20 assists. Jena Preston had 15 assists and Corbin Daniel had 13 kills to help with the offense. On the defensive side, Kenzlee Carroll led the team with 18 digs, followed by Aspen Lomax’s 10. After having the weekend off, Childress will start the second half of district play at home on Tuesday, October 19 vs Shallowater at 4:00 p.m.

Quanah

The Lady Indians started the week strong with a road win on October 12 at Knox City (25-14, 25-15, 25-6). Their game on Saturday against Benjamin was canceled due to Benjamin being unable to play. Quanah will face Chillicothe on the road on Tuesday, October 19 at 4:00 p.m.

Vernon

The Lady Lions started their week with a dominant road win on October 12 at Hirschi (25-11, 25-14, 25-15), Carli White stuffed the stat sheet with 5 aces, 7 kills, 2 blocks and 5 digs. Valerie Tyra also had 7 kills and 2 blocks and picked up 2 digs of her own. Gabby Gonazles was tough in the backcourt getting 4 digs and 3 aces.

Vernon then took on Minerals Wells at home on Friday, October 15. After dropping the first 2 sets, the Lady Lions fought to the wire to send it to a 5th set and came out on top in the end (17-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-11). Carli White finished the game with a double-double (30 kills, and 11 digs) and 3 blocks. Kenadi Brown also had 11 digs and contributed 6 kills. Valerie Tyra notched 8 kills and 3 digs for the team. Vernon will play their home senior night game Tuesday, October 19 vs Iowa Parkat 4:30 p.m.

Memphis

The Lady Cyclones hosted Vega on October 12 with the match going into a thrilling fifth set before Vega finally closed out the game (21-25, 25-15, 25-22, 14-25, 17-19). The game made history as it was the first win for Vega’s volleyball program. Memphis will have a bye the next week and will continue district play Saturday, October 23 at Olton at 10:00 a.m.

Paducah

The Lady Dragons started their week with a tough road loss to Chillicothe on October 12 (21-25, 23-25, 17-25). They hosted Munday on October 15 and made quick work of the Mogulettes in 3 sets (26-24, 25-22, 25-15). Paducah will be on the road again to start the week on Tuesday, October 19 at Northside at 5:00 p.m.

Chillicothe

The Lady Eagles picked up a dominant 3 set win against Paducah on October 12 (25-21, 25-23, 25-17). They then traveled to Crowell on October 16, were met with a challenge and fought their way back from being down 2 sets to win the game in the 5th set (25-21, 26-28, 23-25, 25-17, 15-10). Chillicothe will play Quanah on Tuesday, October 19 at 4:00 p.m.

Crowell

The Lady Cats faced a red hot Benjamin team on the road on October 12 and fell in 3 sets (6-25, 7-25, 13-25). On October 16, they went up 2 sets to 1 against Chillicothe before the Lady Eagles were able to rally to win the game in the 5th set (21-25, 28-26, 25-23, 17-25, 10-15). Crowell will play their next game on the road on Tuesday, October 19 at Munday at 6:00 p.m.

Vernon Northside

The Lady Indians made quick work of their competition this past week, sweeping Munday on October 12 (25-20, 25-21, 25-13) and Knox City on October 15 (25-20, 25-6, 25-13). Northside faces Paducah at home on Tuesday, October 19 at 5:00 p.m.
