Week 3 high school volleyball scores

Childress

The Childress Ladycats picked up a big road win against Wichita Falls Hirschi (25-18, 25-19, 28-26) on August 24. Adah Henderson led the team in kills (20) and blocks (3), followed by Corbin Daniel who brought in 17 kills and 8 digs of her own. Lily Stephens stuffed the stat sheet on both offense and defense with 28 assists and 2 blocks. Jena Preston added in 17 more assists and Kenzlee Carroll picked up 19 digs. Chloe Churchill served tough all game, leading the team with 7 aces.

The Ladycats had a bye over the weekend but will be back in action Tuesday, August 31 at home against Dalhart starting at 4:00 p.m. They then host the Crossroads Classic Tournament on September 2 and 4.

Chillicothe

The Lady Eagles suffered a tough loss on the road against Electra (10-25, 13-25, 10-25) early in the week but turned it around quickly on Saturday with a road win against Harrold (20-25, 25-18, 25-7, 25-13). They continue their streak of road games on Tuesday, August 31 at Fort Elliott where they will play the Lady Cougars and Erick, OK at 5:00 p.m.

Paducah

The Lady Dragons were on the road the past week, first facing off against a tough Aspermont Lady Hornets team. Paducah fell in 3 sets (16-25, 25-27, 18-25) but bounced back with a win in 4 sets at Memphis on Saturday (22-25, 25-14, 25-18, 25-16). Road games continue for the Lady Dragons as they set their sights on the Crossroads Classic Tournament in Childress on September 2 and 4.

Memphis

It was a tough week for the Lady Cyclones as they suffered two home losses. They lost in 3 sets to Benjamin on August 24 (13-25, 13-25, 13-25) and then in 4 sets to Paducah on Saturday (22-25, 14-25, 18-25, 16-25). Looking ahead, Memphis plays at Crowell on Tuesday, August 31 at 6:00 p.m. and then will compete in the Crossroads Classic Tournament in Childress on September 2 and 4.

Vernon

The Lady Lions met a competitive Henrietta team on August 24 and fell in 3 sets (13-25, 15-25, 12-25). The Lady Lions also played in the BUFL Tournament in Nocona over the weekend. Vernon plays at home on Tuesday August 31 against Cache, OK at 4:30 p.m.

Crowell

The Lady Cats picked up two wins this week, taking down both Harrold (25-17, 25-18, 25-13) and Olney (25-18, 25-17, 25-15) in 3 sets. They look to keep defending their home court as they play Memphis at home on Tuesday August 31 at 6:00 p.m.

Altus

The Lady Bulldogs had a busy week playing in multiple tournaments in matches. The action started on Monday, August 23 as the JV team played in the Cache JV Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs went 0-3 in pool play, losing to Cache (1-2), Tuttle (0-2) and Lawton MacArthur (0-2). They were knocked out in bracket play by Temple, 2 sets to 1.

The following day the freshman, JV and Varsity teams played at Snyder, each picking up wins. The Freshmen team won in 2 sets (25-16, 25-12), the JV team in 2 sets (25-13, 25-17) and the varsity team finished the night winning in 4 sets (25-18, 25-17, 19-25, 25-20).

The Lady Bulldogs then traveled to Duncan on August 26 and unfortunately, all went home with a loss. The freshmen team lost in 2 sets (19-25, 19-25), the JV team took Duncan to a third set before coming up short (19-25, 24-26, 4-15) and the varsity team was swept in straight sets (3-25, 13-25, 8-25).

The Lady Bulldogs ended the week with the JV team playing in the Snyder Tournament on August 28. The team went 1-2 in pool play against Tipton (1-2), Cement (Lost) and Indiahoma (2-0). They faced Cement in the first round of bracket play and were knocked out of the tournament after losing in 3 sets (23-25, 25-12, 11-15).
