Week 6 high school volleyball scores

Childress

The Lady Cats traveled to Pampa on September 14, but fell in three sets to a tough Lady Harvester team (13-25, 16-25, 12-25). They quickly turned it around by sweeping River Road in straight sets on Saturday (25-23, 25-14, 25-19). Adah Henderson and Corbin Daniel got the offensive going with 13 and 12 kills respectively, while Jena Preston led the team with 18 assists followed by Lily Stephen’s 17. On defense, Kenzlee Carroll picked up 16 kills and Aspen Lomax added in 12 more. Chloe Churchill also served tough with 3 aces. Childress’s next game is at Iowa Park on Tuesday, September 21 at 5:00 p.m.

Quanah

The Lady Indians continued district play on a hot streak, beating both Crowell (25-3, 25-10, 25-4) and Knox City (25-8, 25-20, 25-5) in straight sets. They look to keep their streak alive as they travel to Benjamin on Tuesday, September 21 at 4:00 p.m.

Vernon

The Lady Lions started their week against Petrolia with both teams winning their matches in straight sets. JV White made quick work with set scores of 25-16 and 25-14, while the varsity team had a thrilling final set, going 5 points over regulation (25-19, 25-11, 30-28). Carli White stuffed the stat sheet with 6 aces, 9 kills and 8 digs and Kenadi Brown led the team with 13 kills.

Vernon then faced Abilene Cooper on Friday, with the JV White team starting the night off with a win against Abilene Cooper A (25-23, 12-25, 15-7). JV White then lost to Abilene Cooper B in 3 sets (12-25, 25-18, 10-15) and JV Maroon fell in 3 sets as well (25-22, 22-25, 25-23). The varsity team played tough throughout the match, going to a fifth set before losing the match (15-25, 25-21, 26-24, 16-25, 9-15). Carli White had another standout performance, leading the team with 32 digs, 20 kills and 3 blocks. Kenadi Brown added in 12 more kills and 7 digs and Audrey Hodges picked up 9 digs of her own. Hodges also brought in 16 assists alongside Reina Quilodran, who had 14 assists. Head Coach Amber Hall said the team played great and all the players did great things for the team overall.

The Lady Lions are back in action at home on Tuesday, September 21 against Lubbock Monterey at 4:30 p.m.

Memphis

The Lady Cyclones faced Miami on the road on Tuesday, September 14, only to fall to a competitive team in straight sets (10-25, 9-25, 4-25). After having a bye over the weekend, Memphis will start district play Tuesday, September 21 at West Texas High at 5:00 p.m.

Paducah

The Lady Dragons started their week on the road against Benjamin, where they dropped three straight sets (17-25, 20-25, 10-25). Their losing streak was short lived as they took down Chillicothe in 3 sets on Saturday (25-17, 25-22, 25-16). Paducah will be at home on Tuesday, September 21 to play Munday at 5:00 p.m.

Chillicothe

It was a tough week for the Lady Eagles as they faced Northside (12-25, 14-25, 12-25) and Paducah (17-25, 22-25, 16-25), losing both games in straight sets. Chillicothe has the opportunity to turn the tide in their favor as they play Crowell at home on Tuesday, September 21 at 6:00 p.m.

Crowell

The Lady Cats faced two tough teams this week in Quanah (3-25, 10-25, 4-25) and Benjamin (9-25, 3-25, 10-25), suffering losses to both. Looking to get back in the win column, Crowell heads to Chillicothe on Tuesday, September 21 to play at 6:00 p.m.

Vernon Northside

The Lady Indians made quick work of their competition this week, taking down both Chillicothe (25-12, 25-14, 25-12) and Munday (25-10, 25-8, 25-13) in straight sets. They look to keep up their dominant performance at Knox City on Tuesday, September 21 at 4:00 p.m.

Altus

The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Weatherford last Monday and eventually fell in straight sets. They played on the road again on September 16 at Erick and lost in 4 sets. Back at home this week, Altus will play Erick again on Tuesday, September 21 at 6:30 p.m.
