Jackson County Sheriff’s Office releases monthly report of activity for February 2023

ALTUS, OK – During the month of February, 2023 deputies served a total of 82 court orders to include orders related to subpoena’s, protective orders, and entries and detainers. Additionally, deputies initiated four Sheriff’s Sales, selling two properties pursuant to orders of the District Court.A total of 66 new warrants were issued by the District Court of Jackson County, 59 warrants were served while 16 were recalled by the District Court.

Of the warrants served, 34 were felony warrants.Deputies were responsible for conducting transportation of inmates to and from the court, and to medical facilities as needed. 42 transports were conducted during the month. These numbers do not include inmates attending court in our courtroom at the Sheriff’s Office which requires the involvement of a deputy.As of the writing of this report, 164 inmates were housed at the Jackson County Jail. Deputies transported 11 inmates across the State of Oklahoma and Texas, traveling a total of 2,859 miles.Deputies conducted 17 investigations during the month dealing with crimes covering, aggravated assault and battery, child abuse, narcotics offenses, and driving under the influence.

During February alone, 1,416 calls for service were received by our dispatch center. These calls resulted in deputies responding to 8 alarm calls, 33 animal calls, 8 fire calls, 2 disturbance calls, 6 mental health calls, as well as numerous others related to traffic accidents, prowlers, welfare checks, and medical calls.Jackson County encompasses 803 square miles in total. During the performance of our duties, deputies traveled 23, 482 miles.
