Martha Road to Hold Boys/Mom Banquet

Martha Road Baptist Church, located north of Altus, will hold their 4th annual Boys/Mom banquet called Gentlemen in Training, Friday evening April 14. Kevin Baker, pastor of the church said, “For several years we have had a banquet for father’s and daughters. We had a strong desire to offer something for the boys and their moms. A few years ago, we started the Gentlemen in Training Banquet. This is an opportunity for the mothers to bond with their sons.”
The theme this year is Honor Code. We will encourage the boys to grow up to become men of honor and courage. There is one definite thing missing in today’s culture, it is respect for authority. Our guest speaker is Holden McCracken. Holden is the Next Gen Pastor at First Baptist Church in El Reno Oklahoma. In addition to Mr. McCracken, we will have workshops where the boys and moms will get information on real-life Codes of Conduct. The workshop leaders will be Ryan Hayes with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Joe Buchanan with the Altus Fire Department and Col. Ted Boyd with the United States Air Force.
Tickets are now on sale for the banquet. Tickets are $40, and $50 if purchased after April 2. The ticket is a family ticket that includes the mother and as many sons she has or wants to bring to the banquet. Tickets can be purchased at the church office Monday – Friday 8 to 4. The banquet is April 14 at 6 PM. For more information on this or other events at the church please visit the church website at www.martharoad.org or call the church office at 580.482.3377.
