Three pronounced dead in wreck southeast of Childress

Texas Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a fatal crash 4 miles southeast of Childress Thursday morning, June 1, at around 10 AM.
According to reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety, a truck tractor being driven by Teontra Noel, 49, of Crowley, Texas, was towing a semi-trailer and was traveling northwest on US-287 in a construction zone.
A 2019 Subaru Ascent, being driven by Bradley Nevil, 68, of McKinney, Texas, was traveling directly behind the truck trailer, and a 2016 Ford Escape being driven by Patrick Scrivener, 54, of Troup, Texas was traveling directly behind Nevil.
Traffic was not at a standstill in the construction zone but was moving very slowly.
A truck tractor, being driven by Vicente Barcenas, 47, of Perryton, Texas, was towing a semi-trailer, and was approaching the slow-moving traffic ahead when it failed to control speed and struck the Nevil vehicle in the rear, causing a chain reaction, resulting in the Nevil and Scrivener vehicles to be wedged between the two truck tractors. All vehicles came to rest in the right lane and shoulder of the northwest-bound lane.
Drivers of the two vehicles, Scrivener and Nevil, and a passenger in the Nevil vehicle, Sheri Nevil, 61, of McKinney, Texas, were all pronounced deceased on scene by Childress County Justice of the Peace Melissa Harper.
Truck tractor driver Barcenas was transported to Childress Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, and truck tractor driver Noel was not injured.
